Job Search Sites have a secret that’s for sure and here’s what you need to unlock their resources.
When you go to a job search site online the sheer amount of results they give back can be rather baffling. I mean are there really 11,000 job openings for a waiter in Chicago? The answer of course is obviously no but those are the results that we got when we checked a particular job search site on the internet.
So, if we all know that can’t possibly be true with this economy because if a job for Turkey handler comes available even its gobbled up in seconds (pun intended). But seriously those kinds of numbers are just not realistic when in the Sunday paper there might only be 8 to 12 that are really truly hiring if that many.
So, how in the heck do you get it to give you real numbers you can use and more importantly is there a technique for weeding out all of the competition and all of the jobs that aren’t real and all or most of the ones that have already been filled? The answer is yes.
Yes you can do it if you simply follow this super easy solution.
Before you commit to laying down your credit card look for the ones that have test runs. Yes, most will give you limited results until you pay (we are talking about both really, the pay and non pay job finder sites) the limited results are how they give you the carrot to get you to pay. But you will be able to test the all important filters and they are the trick to getting the results you want.
Here’s what you do. Simply keep adjusting their date of submission filters until you have a very tight range of dates that employers submitted their request for the employment you’re after. The ones you really want are those that are 0 to 60 days old.
Why 0 to 60 days old? Well, many of the gems will be found in the 30 to 60 day category. You see everyone leaves those alone because they think they’re too old and already gone and in some cases that true but not always.
Sometimes the best job opportunities are those that have matured just a bit. What do we mean by this? Well, many times companies submit to the job search websites and within 2 or 3 hours they get 1,500 or sometimes many more resumes. They feel overwhelmed but they attempt to plow through it and sometimes they just can’t find the right person but don’t want to go through that again.
Then many times they eventually do hire someone but they turn out to be lousy at their job or don’t play well with others or ? you name it they just get let go.
This is your golden opportunity. Because, that enormous wave of competition (remember the 1,500 + resumes) is over and the job is now open or was never filled and like magic here you come with your resume and maybe more importantly your cover letter written just like a sales letter espousing all of your many benefits.
What are your benefits? They are basically what you are going to give to your employer that your competition can not. Let me let you in on a little secret. All your employer wants from you is to know how you are going to either help them move their company forward, make them more money, save them more money or make them look good to their boss if applicable. Hey, it’s just human nature.
So, you need a resume and a cover letter that clearly tell your prospective employer how you plan on doing that for them.
If you don’t have a job resume and cover letter that’s 100% top shelf don’t worry we know a company that just developed a piece of software that is so easy it practically does it for you.
